CRICUT: Box Card cut file error

Hi everyone! And a big old Wow! I've sent the Card Box file to over 130 people!!! Thanks so much for your interest. And a big hello to all my new followers!

I have had a couple of emails reporting that they were getting an error when they were trying to cut the file.

The error stated that "This project isn't available to purchase yet". That confused me because I had only used the free score line image and a box from the free Cricut Craft Room digital cartridge. I did that so that anyone with an Explore could cut the file.

Well, luckily before I had time to really start to panic, Brenda, one of those lovely followers figured it out. It was the font I used in the information box at the top of the design.

If you don't own the font I used (A Childs Year) you will get that error. There's an easy fix though.

1. Go to the Layers box
2. Scroll down till you find the layer that starts with Box C…
3. Click the “eye” to hide that Layer.

The text box will be hidden from the canvas and won't appear as a layer when you click Go!

Box Card cut file - Did you receive it? Will you post a photo of your Box card?

Thanks for the great response to my Box Card file and welcome to my new followers!

I've sent the file to everyone who has requested it. I've had a few people mention that they haven't received the file, even though it shows up in my email's Sent Items folder.

I was getting some errors yesterday when I was sending out the emails though so let me know in the comment below if you have requested it but haven't yet received it and I'll send it again.

I had one email bounce (TKDMOM) and one comment that didn't leave their email address (JennyD906) but I've noted that under your comment.

I've also had someone report that when she opens the file in Design Space she gets an error saying that it's not available for purchase and won't let her cut it. I don't know why she's getting that error as the file only uses the free score line image and a box from Cricut Craft Room basics that is also free.

I thought maybe it was happening because she wasn't logged in but I just tested that by logging out of Design Space and opening the file and I didn't get the error.

So the mystery continues....

CRICUT: Design Space - Importing a SVG file

Having trouble importing SVG files into Design Space? Hopefully this will help.

Most SVG files import easily into Design Space. However files from MyScrapChick currently import with black blobs around them. There's extra work that needs to be done in Inkscape to cut those files successfully. I'm not aware if/when that problem is going to be fixed, but I do know the owner of MyScrapChick is aware of the problem.


On to the tutorial!! Here's the process from purchase to being ready to cut.

I'm using the awesome Easter file from SVG Cuts.


1. From the SVG Cuts website, click on the image for the file you want to purchase.

  

CRICUT: A free Box Card cut file for you

Hi everyone!

I have been working on a Design Space cut file for the very popular Box Card.

I've made it using just the score line and a box from Cricut Craft Room basics. Which means that anyone with an Explore can cut it!

I have two versions of the file available. A 4 slot version and a 3 slot version.

The insert in this box card is very different to most box cards.

Pinterest party!

A couple of nights ago I joined in with some friends who were having a Pinterest party. I had so much fun I thought I'd do one on my blog.

Here's what you have to do.

Click the blue "Join this Site" button to become a follower of my blog.

Go to Pinterest and pick any craft project and make it. It doesn't have to be exactly the same. Just use it as a guide. Don't spend too long on your project. Pick an easy one if it helps. Hopefully you'll learn a new technique like I did!

When you've finished take a photo, post it to your blog and add a link to it using the InLinkz button at the bottom of this post. Don't forget to invite your blog readers to join in the fun!

If you don't have a blog to link to you can upload your photo to Photobucket (or any photo sharing site) and link to that.

Here's the card I made. It's an ink emboss resist card. It's hard to see but it's nice and sparkly in real life!

CRICUT: Let's talk about linking

There is so much confusion around about linking Cricut cartridges. The same questions keep being asked on the Official Cricut Facebook page.  So I thought I'd try and make some sense of it for anyone still wondering...

There are three ways we can link our cartridges to our Cricut account:

• To a Gypsy
  
  
• Through Cricut Craft Room (CCR)
  
  
• Through Cricut Design Space 

You only have to link your cartridges using one of the above methods. If you link via Cricut Craft Room or Design Space those carts will automatically be available in both programs. 

If, however, you link your cartridges using a Gypsy there is an extra step you need to do to make them available in Cricut Craft Room and Cricut Design Space.

This step can only be done using Cricut Craft Room.

The lovely lady who owns the Salon De Beaute (yes, the Beauty Salon) that I am a client of recently announced that she was pregnant. They really look after me there and always make me feel special so I thought I could at least make her a card.

I was sent a "box card" by my friend Carrie for my birthday this year so when I saw this one in the Silhouette store I thought I'd have a go at that. 

I made it to fit an A2 envelope first. Then I thought that as I would be hand delivering it I would try making a bigger one. So I enlarged it to fit the 12x12 mat.  

I can't decide which one I like the best!
